System Requirements - LaunchPad is currently supported on the following:
- Operating Systems: Microsoft® Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.*
- Web Browsers: Google ChromeTM, Mozilla FireFox®, Microsoft Internet Explorer®
- JAVA: Java will need to be installed for LaunchPad to work properly. You can download the latest version of Java here: http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
*Windows is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and other countries.
Download LaunchPad
- After you have verified your Java installation, the next step is to download the LaunchPad software. It can be downloaded here: http://www.uneefide.com
- The LaunchPad installer should automatically launch itself and begin the installation process. However if, for some reason, it does not, you can manually start the download process by double-clicking on the downloaded .exe file.
Installing LaunchPad
- The LaunchPad installer is simple to use. When you download the file from the website, it should auto-launch. However, if it does not, it can be activated by double-clicking the .exe file that you downloaded from the Uneefide website. This should start the installer. Once it has started, follow the instructions to complete your installation. More detailed instructions can be found on the Installing LaunchPad page.
Unistalling LaunchPad
- Before upgrading and in certain troubleshooting circumstances, you may need to uninstall LaunchPad. As with all other aspects of LaunchPad, uninstalling is straightforward. Go to the Start Menu -> Programs -> Uneefide -> Uninstaller
- Selecting Uninstaller will start the uninstall process. A small dialog will appear. The only selectable item is a checkbox with the query: Force the deletion of <program path>. If you check the box, the uninstaller will delete all of LaunchPad including the directory where it was installed. If the box is not checked, the LaunchPad directory will be left on your machine along with some LaunchPad data, although all the program files will be removed.
- When the uninstaller is finished, the progress bar will be at 100%. You may then safely click the "Quit" button to exit the uninstaller.
Signing Up
- After installing LaunchPad, you are ready to sign up and go. The sign up process is quick, easy, secure and simply requires your email address (which serves as your login name) and a secure password so that you can log into your account. To begin the sign up process, you must first start LaunchPad. To do this, you can either double-click the LaunchPad Icon on your desktop or go to Start -> Programs-> Uneefide ->LaunchPad. LaunchPad will start and will open up to the sign up dialog box.
- Once the Sign Up dialog box is open, fill in your user name, email address, password, and confirm your password in the indicated spaces. You may also choose to check the "Remember Me" box, which automatically remembers your user name and password, and will skip the log in process the next time you start LaunchPad.
- After you have completed the sign up process, LaunchPad should log you in automatically and you can begin using the software.
Logging In
- Once you have signed up for LaunchPad, you may need to log in the next time you start up the software. To start LaunchPad, double-click the LaunchPad Icon on your desktop or go to Start -> Programs-> Uneefide ->LaunchPad. LaunchPad will start and will open the Login dialog box.
- Use the same user name and password you used during your sign up to login. When you have entered your information, click the "login" button. You should see new icons appear at the top of the screen. Now you can start using LaunchPad!
DeskSpaces
- A "DeskSpace" is essentially a container that you create to enable sharing with other users. Once a DeskSpace is created, it can be populated with content - documents, photos, mp3s - any files you want and are legally entitled to share. When you're ready, you can share your DeskSpace with other LaunchPad users. Or, by sending a DeskSpace Invitation, you can introduce LaunchPad to someone who doesn't already have it. Once your DeskSpace Invitation has been accepted, the person you invited will be able to see and use the contents of your DeskSpace just like it was on their own desktop because, well, it is on their desktop.
Creating a DeskSpace
- To create a new DeskSpace, Click the green + sign button that says"Add DeskSpace" under the Brand window. A dialog box should open and ask you to enter a "DeskSpace Name". Type the name you wish to use for your DeskSpace and click the "ok" button. The dialog should close and you will see a new folder in LaunchPad that has the name of your DeskSpace.
Adding Files to Your DeskSpace
- Start by clicking on the LaunchPad tab that has the name of the DeskSpace that you wish to work with. This will activate that DeskSpace and bring it to the front. Once your DeskSpace is active, drag and drop any files you wish to share into the DeskSpace frame.
- Files can also be added to your DeskSpace by right-clicking on the name of the DeskSpace where you want to add your files. When you right-click, you will see a dropdown menu. Select "Import File into DeskSpace" from the dropdown menu. This action will open up the file Import dialog and allow you to select the file you wish to upload.
Accessing or Editing DeskSpace Files
- To edit or access any file in your DeskSpace, you can double-click or right-click on the file and choose "edit" from the dropdown menu. You can also open a file by double-clicking it.
- WARNING: This action will only work if you have the appropriate software installed on your computer. For instance, if you attempt to open an MP3 file without a music player installed, nothing will happen.
Share a DeskSpace
- There are two ways to share a DeskSpace. The first is to right-click on an active DeskSpace and select "Share DeskSpace" from the dropdown menu. This will open the "Send Invite" dialog box. In this box you will need to choose the DeskSpace you wish to share. You will also need to enter the email address of the person you want to share your DeskSpace.
- The second method for sharing a DeskSpace is to make sure you have the DeskSpace you wish to share active. Then click the “Share DeskSpace” tab at the bottom center of the LaunchPad window. As before, this will open the “Send Invite” dialog box where you will need to enter the email address or username of the person you are sharing your DeskSpace with.
- To share a DeskSpace with multiple users, open the “Send Invite” dialog using the instructions above. Once it is opened, type the email address for a person, then a comma, then the next email address. For example, if you wanted to share with two users, you would open the dialog and type the emails (or usernames) like this: joe@nowhere.com, sally@anywhere.net
Editing DeskSpace Files
- Once you have shared a DeskSpace with other users, anyone that has access to the DeskSpace has access to the files in it. Any edits made by a user will be distributed to all the accounts that share that DeskSpace. This makes collaboration on a shared project very easy.
Accept a DeskSpace
- When someone has shared a DeskSpace with you, the text on the "Invites" button in LaunchPad will flash. When this happens, click the "Invites" button. This will open the Invitation Viewer. You will see two tabs - "Sent" and "Received". Click on the "Received" button. You will then see all the DeskSpace Invitations that have been sent to you. Highlight the invitation you want to accept and click the "Accept" button. You can then click the "DeskSpaces" button to return to LaunchPad. You should now see a new tab with the name of the DeskSpace you just accepted.
Branding
- Creating your Brand is an important part of the LaunchPad experience. Your Brand will remind your clients who they got the software from and why they got it in the first place. You want your Brand to be as professional as possible - just like your Business Card. LaunchPad provides you with the tools to build your Brand quickly and easily.
- NOTE: You must be signed up for the Branding service for it to work properly. Otherwise, any Brand you create will be visible only to you.
- To create your Brand, click on the Brand button. This will open the Brander Tool. From there, you can start building your Brand. More detailed information on using the Brander can be found on the Building Your Brand help page.
Finishing up
- Once you are finished using LaunchPad, you can close down the application as you would any other software. All data that you have stored in your DeskSpace will still be available to those you have shared with. Any changes they make to files in that DeskSpace will be updated to your files the next time you open LaunchPad.
